Burning Permits
If you live in the Lake Carmel Sanitation District, burning permits are no
longer being issued. Open burning is not allowed
in this district, since September 2004.
If you have questions, you may call
the Fire Inspector’s office at
845-306-5599.
Grass and leaf
bags are offered instead of burning.
Building permits do
not allow you to burn construction material at any time. Contact
the fire inspector's office for more information.
Please contact the Sanitation District at 845-225-7030 to
get information on where the bags can be obtained and pickup
times in your area of the district.
If you live outside the Sanitation
District, you must have
a permit to burn.
Permits are conditional
and must adhere to the following conditions:
- Burning is from sunrise to sunset.
- You must be there, at
all times!
- You need water or a garden hose.
- Hand tools. (Shovel, Rake)
- Three (3) ft. clearance, free
of vegetation around the burn barrel and
25 ft. from a structure
or
- Three (3) ft. clearance, free of vegetation around the
small piles
50 ft. from a structure
- Small piles shouldn’t be larger
than 3 ft. in diameter by 2 ft. in height
- No burning on
Sundays or Holidays.
You must call Kent Police at 845-225-5646 and the Putnam County
911 Dispatch Center non-emergency number at 845-225-5523, before
you burn. |
